The Land of Moose and Maple Syrup

No one really needs an excuse to go to Canada, but for some of our Aussie/US/International friends and family we’re willing to let you use our wedding as the excuse to get you to this amazing place. So how does one get the (snow)ball rolling, so to speak? That’s easy. Ask yourself the following question: “Do I like maple syrup?

If the answer is “yes”, then you should definitely come. If the answer is “no,” then start thinking of all the OTHER reasons you’d love to go to Canada:
Always wanted to experience Niagara Falls? Take a train through the Rocky Mountains? See a bear? Try some pemmican (what’s that?!) or check out Vancouver? Now. Is. The. Time. (and by ‘Now’ we mean next July, which nicely coincides with a wedding that you just happen to be invited to!)

Put all your loose coins from now ’til then (and then some more) in a jar, make a note on your 2013 calendar (in stores now), and direct your energy towards the goal of giving yourself the gift of travel. It doesn’t have to be a ‘gap’ year, it doesn’t need to be time to retire, heck, it doesn’t even have to be on your bucket list… just trust your gut 😉

Since we would SO love to have you come, here’s just a sample of what else there is to see nearby in this magical land of moose and maple syrup – a (very short) list of side trips you may wish to incorporate: (all links open in separate windows)

Vancouver – consistently rated as one of the most “liveable” cities – don’t miss Stanley Park, Granville Island or the Capilano Suspension Bridge.

Vancouver Island – take the ferry from Vancouver to BC’s capital, Victoria, (don’t miss Butchart Gardens) then venture further to explore the island’s many beautiful spots from Nanimo to Tofino.

Banff/Jasper/Lake Louise – an awe-inspiring place with turquoise lakes, chateaus, glaciers, elk in the streets and of course, the Rockies. Not far from Calgary and just a 7 hour drive to the lake.

Rocky Mountaineer Train – possibly the best way to see the Rockies without the altitude sickness; from a glass-domed train car, with champagne.

Cruise up the coast to Alaska (link is just for example) – scenery and wildlife that will take your breath away.
